Rongo Member of Parliament Paul Odalo Mark has been arrested by Ethics and Anti corruption for alleged conflict of interest and theft of public funds.
Odalo was under investigation for alleged conflict of interest and theft of public funds in relation to the award of tenders worth sh 122M by the Rongo National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
A press release signed by Chief Executive Officer Mr Abdi Mohamud read in parts, “Inquiry into allegations of corruption, conflict of interest and theft of the public funds against the member of the parliament for Rongo constituency Mr Paul Odalo Mark.
The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (Eacc) confirms that today Thursday 23rd January 2025, the commission conducted a successful investigative operation targeting the member of parliament for Rongo constituency, who is under investigation for alleged conflict of interest and theft of public funds.
This is in relation to the award of tenders worth sh 122m by the Rongo National Government Constituency Development Fund to companies associated with him during the financial year 2017/2018 to 2024/2025” he wrote.
Abdi said preliminary investigations established that “ the suspect together with Christopher Nelson Abuor registered a private company by the name Aztec Infrastructure Kenya limited as Directors, using this company the suspect trades with RongoNG-CDF through constructions of classrooms and drilling of boreholes and has so far received sh 122M. He is the sole signatory of the company’s Bank account.
The MP has through his personal assistant registered another company by the name Jebset Holding Limited. Through this company, the personal assistant has been paid sh 19.6M by Rongo NG-CDF..the personal assistant is the sole director and signatory to the company bank account.“
He said Rongo constituency was one of the several cases the Commission was investigating in the embezzlement of public funds.
He said the suspect was taken to EACC headquarters and was recording statement with the officers.
